
Department of English organized an academic session titled “The Magic Happens When Research Meets Teacher Training” on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM. We were honored to host the distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Lilian W. Mina, Associate Professor and Director of Institutional Assessment at the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis, The University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The program was efficiently hosted by Ms. Syeda Masnuna Rumi, Lecturer, Department of English, who guided the proceedings with professionalism and ensured the smooth flow of the session.
The event commenced with a warm and engaging welcome address by Mr. Mohammad Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor, who formally inaugurated the session and introduced the day’s distinguished guest speaker, highlighting the significance of the topic and the objectives of the program.
Ms. Raisa Nuzhat, Lecturer, Department of English, presented a brief biography of Dr. Lilian W. Mina, highlighting her professional background and scholarly contributions, and officially invited her to take the stage.
Afterwards, Dr. Lilian W. Mina presented her research and conducted the session, engaging the audience with insightful discussions and practical perspectives on the integration of research and teacher training. The presentation was followed by an interactive Q/A session, during which participants actively engaged with the speaker through thoughtful queries and reflections.
We were honored by the gracious presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Vice Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest, who delivered an insightful speech and expressed his appreciation to the distinguished speaker as well as to the Department of English for organizing the session.
The program concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Md. Shamim Mondol, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of English, who offered thoughtful reflections on the session, highlighted the key takeaways, and underscored the importance of research-informed teacher training. A commemorative crest and a gift were presented to Dr. Mina as a gesture of gratitude in recognition of her valuable contribution.
The presence of our esteemed faculty members, along with an attentive and engaged audience, greatly contributed to the success of the event. The session concluded with a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
