Department of English Organizes “Faculty Development: Driving Practical Success” Workshop in Collaboration with IQAC

The Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized an engaging and insightful workshop titled “Faculty Development: Driving Practical Success.” The workshop brought together faculty members to reflect on teaching practices, exchange ideas, and explore practical approaches to making classroom learning more meaningful, relevant, and career-oriented. The workshop featured a series of focused sessions addressing different dimensions of effective teaching, course development, student support, assessment, and academic development.

Session 1: Course Outline

Md. Zohorul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of English, shared valuable insights into effective course planning, learning objectives, course structure, and alignment with learning outcomes. His session highlighted the importance of developing well-organized courses with clearly defined objectives and outcomes to support effective teaching and meaningful student learning.

Session 2: Specialized Care for 1st & 2nd Semester Students

Mr. Mohammad Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Assistant Director of GCiA, highlighted the importance of academic guidance, mentoring, motivation, and specialized support for students at the beginning of their university journey. The session emphasized the role of appropriate guidance and continued academic support in helping students adjust to university life and build a strong foundation for their studies.

Session 3: Testing & Evaluation Strategies

Dr. Serajum Munira, Associate Professor, Department of English, Director of CLCS and CCD, focused on effective assessment practices and evaluation strategies that can better measure student learning and promote continuous academic improvement. Her session highlighted the importance of meaningful assessment in understanding student progress and supporting improved learning outcomes.

Session 4: Aligning Courses with Career & Industry Needs

Dr. Elham Hossain, Associate Professor, Department of English and Director of GCiA, emphasized the importance of connecting academic learning with professional skills, employability, industry expectations, and students’ future career pathways. The session encouraged faculty members to consider how course content and learning experiences can better prepare students for their professional lives.

Session 5: Developing Effective Course Materials

Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, Professor, Department of English and Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, shared valuable perspectives on developing well-structured, engaging, relevant, and student-centered course materials to enhance teaching and learning. His session highlighted the importance of carefully designed learning materials in supporting student engagement and effective classroom instruction.

Dr. Md.
