Successful Completion of Freshers' Orientation Program for Spring 2026, Department of English

Department of English has organized the Freshers' Orientation Program for Spring 2026 semester on Monday, 2nd February, 2026 at 11:30 AM. This program was arranged to welcome the newly admitted students of the department. 

The program begins with the welcome speech by Dr. Elham Hossain, Associate Professor, Department of English. He welcomed the freshers and said a few inspiring words for them. Next, the newly admitted students introduced themselves. Afterwards, all the faculty members from the department introduced themselves and congratulated the freshers for joining the flagship department of Green University of Bangladesh. 

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh joined us as the chief guest. He welcomed the students and stated that the Department of English is one of the most enriched and distinguished departments of the university. Honorable Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Professor, Department of English, Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, joined us as the special guest. He emphasized on rapport building to get the utmost support from the department. Also, he added that English is considered as a royal subject and the demand for English is rising day by day. Hence, the students of the Department of English have lots of opportunities to explore different fields in the job market in future.  

Furthermore, Mr. Hazzaz Al Abtahee, Lecturer and Program Coordinator, Dept. of English, illustrated a summary of different academic and co-curricular activities run by the department. 

Then, Dr. Serajum Munira, Associate Professor, Department of English and Director of CLCS, talked about the importance of mentorship programs and different scholarship opportunities and other facilities run by the university. Also, she introduced the Assistant Mentor Moderator, Ms. Aklima Akter, Assistant Professor, Department of English, to the freshers. After that one of the mentors introduced herself and talked about the Mentorship program. 

Towards the end, Honorable Chairperson, Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, Dr. Md. Shamim Mondol made concluding remarks by congratulating and thanking the freshers for making the right decision to join the Department of English. Also, he encouraged the freshers to explore and engage themselves in academic and co-curricular activities. 

At the end of the program, there were few performances including song and poetry recitation by the faculty members and the students.
