
We are delighted to share that five faculty members and students from the Department of English at Green University of Bangladesh participated in the prestigious BELTA-NSU International Conference titled Re/Envisioning Paradigms in English Language Education, held at North South University on 6-7 December 2024.

Professor Dr. M. Shahidullah, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Chairperson of the Department of English, chaired the opening Plenary Session delivered by Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Department of English and Director, Office of International Affairs, University of Dhaka. The session was titled "Reenvisioning Paradigms in English Language Teaching: Leadership and Transformation in a Post-Regime Change Educational Context."
In addition, Dr. Elham Hossain, Associate Professor of the Department of English, chaired a parallel session and presented his paper titled "Outcome-Based Education: Neo-Liberalism and Pedagogy of Bangladesh."
Three lecturers from the Department of English also presented their research:
Ms. Aklima Akter, Lecturer, presented "Code-Mixing among Bangladeshi Youth: A Case Study of Bangla-Korean Code Mixing Among K-Pop Viewers."
Mr. M. Ashiqur Rahman Sourav, Lecturer and Program Coordinator, presented "Anxiety and Tension between the Natives and the Diaspora: Rereading Monica Ali’s Brick Lane."
Ms. Samsad Sultana, Lecturer, presented "Unmasking the Masked: A Forensic Linguistic Analysis of Fake News in the Post-Independence 2.0 Context."

This event was a great opportunity for our faculty and students to contribute to important conversations in English language education and research. We congratulate them all for their remarkable achievements and wish them continued success in their academic pursuits!
