Workshop on OBE Curriculum Implementation, CO-PO Mapping, and Documentation

We are pleased to share that the Department of English, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized a day-long workshop on Implementation of OBE Curriculum, CO-PO Mapping, and Documentation on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. This workshop aimed to enhance our faculty members' knowledge and skills in implementing the OBE curriculum and CO-PO mapping for effective course file documentation.

The workshop featured a range of expert speakers who provided valuable insights into the process:

• Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Chairperson of the Department of CSE

• Dr. ASM Shihavuddin, Chairperson of the Department of EEE, Director of CETL

• Md. Rasel Kabir, Assistant Professor, GULC

The workshop began with a brief introduction from Mr. Md. Shamim Mondol, Assistant Professor, Department of English, who highlighted the significance of the workshop. Mr. Md. Zohorul Islam, Lecturer and Program Coordinator, shared the basics of OBE and its role in documenting a course.

Mr. Md. Rasel Kabir demonstrated the procedure of documenting a course using spreadsheets, which greatly helped the participants. Faculty members then worked on their laptops and discussed the challenges they faced during the documentation process.

Dr. ASM Shihavuddin elaborated on the OBE criteria and how the OBAP platform works as an assessment tool. He emphasized the importance of building a mechanism for outcome-based education right from the creation of a course outline, advising faculty to use the platform to monitor student progress throughout the semester.

Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman discussed the necessity of OBE and the need for course documentation throughout the semester. He highlighted the importance of following and defining the course outline properly to ensure effective CO-PO mapping.

Dr. Mohammed Nazmus Shakib, Associate Professor & Associate Chairperson of the Department of EEE and Additional Director of IQAC, joined us as a guest speaker. He emphasized the importance of such workshops for simplifying the accreditation process and encouraged the department to organize more workshops for continuous quality assurance.

Prof. K. M. Wazed Kabir, Professor, Department of English and Treasurer of Green University of Bangladesh, graced the workshop as the Chief Guest. He discussed the inception of OBE and the need for its implementation to align with the SDGs. He also expressed his gratitude to the Department of English and IQAC for organizing such an insightful event.

The session was presided over by Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, Chairperson of the Department of English and Dean (Acting) of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He discussed the significance of the workshop for the quality assurance of the department and thanked IQAC and the organizing team—Mr. Md. Shamim Mondol, Mr. Mohammad Golam Mohiuddin, and Ms. Aklima Akter—for their tremendous support in making the workshop a success.
