Seminar on "ABC of ELT: Trajectory from Approaches to Testing

Today, October 09, 2024, the Green University English Club (GUEC), in collaboration with the Department of English, organized a highly insightful seminar titled "ABC of ELT: Trajectory from Approaches to Testing" at 2:45 PM.

The seminar was led by our esteemed speaker, Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, Honorable Dean (Acting), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Chairperson, Department of English. Prof. Dr. Shahidullah took the audience through the evolution of English Language Teaching (ELT), beginning with its approaches, methods, syllabus design, and testing practices. He emphasized the importance of learning communicative competence, understanding the sub-skills of the four language skills, and the dynamics of knowledge intake and output, which are crucial for real-life English language usage globally.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh, who attended as the chief guest, offering valuable support and encouragement to the discussion.

In the concluding segment, Dr. Serajum Munira, Associate Professor, Department of English, and Director of Center for Language and Cultural Studies (CLCS), Green University of Bangladesh, delivered closing remarks. She expressed her gratitude to Prof. Dr. Shahidullah for his insightful presentation and acknowledged the importance of such seminars in enhancing our understanding of ELT.
